A few weeks ago, one of my friends said i worship too much on western culture. My spontaneous reaction was like "No way! What the hell are you talking about?" It took me a few minutes to think about it. So what if i really worship their culture? Of course, i didn't tell him what was in my mind.
As a chinese, i'm well aware of the weakness of ours, of course, what i mean is what happens around me, not the whole chinese society. Maybe, as i thought, chinese is too conservative.
Eventhough being 'open-minded' (as being practiced by the western people) is not acceptable by some people, as homosexual, equality are somehow not accepted by some people, it can develop in a good way. Just as i can see, the elders of chinese are always high in ego. They can't bear to be insulted, humiliated in any way. They can scold the children for their misbehaviour, or punish them for their mistakes, and force them to go to a way that their children might not like; but if it happen in the other way, that is, the parents are being scolded, yelled, forced, what will happen? I think i don't need to make any further explanation on that.
Another mystery about the elders is that they have never learned how to apologize, or that they would rather send gifts or in the other way but never to say "sorry". This is cited from a movie i watched some time ago: Why the adults always ask us to say sorry but they never do so even if they are wrong? I think nobody dare to ask their parents about this, because we were trained to "respect" the elders, though i would say this is just to prevent us from humiliating them.
